INTRODUCTION Land Acquisition literally means acquiring of land for some public purpose by government agency, as authorised by the law, from the individual land owner. Conducted by University and Civil Society based researchers, the study sought to: first, identify and documentthe root causes, dynamics and implications of the frequent acts of rural banditry and other forms of violence in Northern Nigeria; and second, make policy recommendations on how such a serious security challenge can be addressed.
